VT Group gains $53m Navy support award

VT Group U.S. will provide program management support to the Navy under a five-year contract potentially worth $53.1 million.
This task order, which stems from the Navy’s SeaPort-e indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract vehicle, calls for the U.S. subsidiary of Babcock International, of London, to support the Program Management Office for Naval Special Warfare.
Under the terms of the task order, VT Group’s Technical Services business unit will provide professional engineering services and strategic planning support to the Office for Naval Special Warfare and other government agencies, according to a company announcement today.
Additionally, VT Group’s Integrated Solutions business unit will act as a subcontractor on the task order.
VT Group also is providing critical infrastructure support to the Navy at Kings Bay submarine base, Ga., as well as key Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance work on both the East and West coasts and other work supporting multiple Navy Integrated Warfare Systems programs,
Work under the task order will be performed primarily at the Washington Navy Yard and other government and contractor sites.
British defense contractor Babcock International Group plc purchased VT Group plc and its U.S.-based VT Group for $2 billion in March. The U.S. company, based in Gaithersburg, Md., is a primary provider of submarine communications and shore-based command, control, communications, computing and information technology systems, and it is one of the largest Navy contractors.
Babcock specializes in defense, including naval submarine services and engineering support.
