DISA delays $427M enterprise storage contract

DISA has pushed back the release of its $427 million contract for on-demand storage services until after the start of the new fiscal year on Oct. 1. The RFP had been expected this month.
The Defense Information Systems Agency still wants to let a $427 million contract for enterprise storage services, but it’s just going to wait a few more months.
Just a little over two weeks since it announced that it would release an request for proposals for the Enterprise Storage Service II contract on July 16, DISA now says the RFP will come out after the fiscal year ends on Sept. 30.
A new timeline for the release of the solicitation will be “forthcoming,” DISA said in its FedBizOpps announcement.
ESS II will be a single-award contract with a four-year base and two one-year options. The current contract is held by VION Corp., and has been worth $211.9 million in task orders to the company, according to Deltek.
DISA is looking to fill requirements for on-demand enterprise storage services in operating environments such as Windows, Red Hat, Linux, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, IBM z/OS and VMWare ESX among others.
Work will take place inside and outside the continental United States.
With the delay, the contract award may not come until November or December of 2014, according to the market research firm Deltek.
