Former Wyle exec sees growth potential at STG
Tom Anderson takes on role of chief operating officer at STG Inc. because he sees the company investing, while others are cutting back.
Tom Anderson, former president of Wyle’s IT business, has joined STG Inc. as the company’s new chief operating officer.
He left Wyle, where he led the company’s Science, Technology and Engineering Group in October 2012.
A formal announcement of his hiring at STG is expected next week, but his first day on the job was Monday.
“I want to help take STG to the next level,” he said. “This is all about growth and positioning the company for the next phase.”
The company was founded in 1986 by Simon Lee, who continues to run the company as chairman and CEO. The Reston, Va., based company has customers with the Army, Homeland Security Department, Health and Human Services, and Navy.
Its capabilities include enterprise network operations, cybersecurity, financial services, systems engineering and integration, software engineering and linguistics and intelligence services.
Anderson said he was drawn to STG because of its culture and Lee’s commitment to growth.
“A lot of companies are tightening the screws, but Simon is investing and bringing on new talent,” Anderson said. “You don’t see that a lot today.”
