Alion Science and Technology Corp. has acquired Washington Consulting Inc. Terms of the deal, which was completed Feb. 24, were not disclosed.
The acquisition enhances Alions capabilities in the areas of enterprise IT and knowledge management solutions and greatly expands the companys ability to deliver such services, said Bahman Atefi, Alions chairman and CEO, in a statement announcing the deal.
In addition, McLean-based WCIs management consulting capabilities add an exciting new area for us that will let us bring even greater value to our customers, he said.
WCI will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Alion and will continue to serve its existing customer base, which includes large organizations in both the private and public sectors.
In particular, the acquisition is expected to benefit Alion customers such as the Defense Department and the IRS, which are undergoing business process transformations.
WCI was represented in the transaction by Aronson Capital Partners LLC.
The acquisition is Alions second significant deal in the last 30 days. Earlier this month, the company acquired BMH Associates, a provider of advanced software and systems engineering that specializes in interactive simulations for military training.
McLean, Va.-based Alion's purchase of Carmel Applied Technologies ranked No. 6 in the Top 10 Deals of the Year in Washington Technologys 2005 Mergers and Acquisitions list.
