The IRS is seeking maintenance, support and software services for its IBM mainframe systems.

The acquisition supports the IRS Modernization and Information Technology Services Organization’s enterprise operations for all IRS business entities and taxpayers, and is intended to manage the day-to-day operations of the network and contact centers.

Contractors will conduct a majority of the work at IRS’ Detroit and Martinsburg, W.Va., computing centers, which provide tax and administrative processing, including currency transaction reports of all banking transactions over $10,000 for the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.

The contract will have a one-year base period starting April 1, 2007, and four option years. Offers are due Oct. 2, the IRS said in its posting on FedBizOpps.gov.

Paradigm Solutions Corp. of Rockville, Md., currently holds the expiring contract worth a total of $52 million.
