Robots can be our friends
The new CD/DVD Imager robot from WiebeTech LLC automatically images and archives CDs and DVDs to hard disk, a camera mounted atop the robot takes a picture of each CD/DVD — a picture comes in handy when trying to match up a disk image with physical evidence — and stores it with the disk image.

Images made by the robot integrate easily with forensic software. The integrated open-source imaging tools handle most disk types, but Linux disk-imaging tools can be substituted.

Catcher in the Web
Catcher Inc.’s new rugged, full-featured, portable computer is built to military standards. It incorporates voice, video, data and biometric information with multiple wireless as well as wired capabilities.

The device enables manipulation of multiple video and audio streams from an easy-to-use portable unit.

It was designed for first responders, Defense and Justice department personnel, and security and medical personnel.

The lightweight device was built to withstand abuse and is designed for use in temperatures ranging from -30C to +55C and in 100 percent humidity.

The summer of security
Intellitactics Inc.’s new release of Network Security Manager simplifies implementation and administration of security information and event management. The integrated threat management platform introduces advanced control monitoring and reporting to enforce security policy and strengthen enterprise information protection.

NSM delivers an improved workflow to detect insider threats and resolve security incidents, and provides an advanced reporting system to accelerate the report creation. The software can monitor and report on control performance, as well as analyze security events against controls selected to limit risk and maintain compliance. — Doug Beizer
