TCS keeps Defense telecom work

TeleCommunication Systems Inc. has been awarded a new five-year contract from the Defense Department to provide wireless communications and other services in support of the Defense Telecommunications Service - Washington. The contract continues the company's 13-year relationship with DTS-W.

Company officials said the contract could be worth almost $4 million in its first year, but declined to disclose the expected full value. TCS is based in Annapolis, Md.

TCS' work for the DOD organization includes system development, application development, data warehousing, wireless services and an array of other information technology services. The office supports about 170,000 DOD users in the Washington, D.C., region.

TCS provides wireless data solutions to carriers, enterprise and government customers. The company’s wireless data offerings include encrypted satellite communications for government customers.
