DataPath Inc. won a $6.6 million Army contract to continue working on satellite systems that provide advanced battlefield communications capabilities.

The company will provide repairs and upgrades to its satellite transportable terminals and unit hub Satcom trucks used for the Army program. The work is part of a previously announced four-year contract with the Army that has a potential value of up to $270 million.

Under this new contract, DataPath will continue to work with the Army to enhance the deployed Satcom terminals that enable high-bandwidth communications with forward-operating bases in theater.

Work under this order includes resets and repairs to terminals returning from the battlefield, as well as upgrades that include compatibility for Wideband Global Satcom Ka band and cold-weather operation.

DataPath engineers and field technical experts will perform the work at DataPath’s facilities as well as at various Army locations.

The work was awarded through the Army’s Joint Network Node/Warfighter Information Network-Tactical program.

DataPath ranks No. 47 on Washington Technology’s 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
