General Dynamics Corp. will provide logistics support for mission computers used on Navy aircraft under a five-year, $27 million contract.

Under the contract’s terms, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems will service and repair advanced mission computers for the F/A-18E, F/A-18F and EA-18G aircraft models, and the mission systems computer for the AV-8B Harrier. All of the airborne computers covered under the contract were developed by General Dynamics.

Specific tasks include making repairs, furnishing spare systems and modules, and controlling inventories, the company said. In addition, General Dynamics AIS will focus on improving reliability and implementing processes that reduce turnaround time and repair costs.

General Dynamics AIS, of Fairfax, Va., is a unit of General Dynamics. The parent company ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
