Vangent Inc. will help the Defense Department agency in charge of health policies for military deployments manage and enhance its automated information systems under a four-year, $23 million contract.

Vangent will support the Force Health Protection and Readiness Program Office by providing systems integration, operations and maintenance services, company officials said in a news release.

The company will also assist with the management and administration of networks that hold sensitive-but-unclassified, secret and top-secret information.

Vangent will provide 24-hour help-desk support for DOD’s medical surveillance systems and information assurance services.

The company’s subcontractors are Akimeka LLC, Kihei, Hawaii; DefenseWeb Technologies Inc., San Diego; and Seidcon Inc., San Marcos, Calif.

The project’s goal is to offer seamless access to communications and data so DOD employees can provide coordinated care to service members stationed at locations worldwide.

Vangent, of Arlington, Va., ranks No. 57 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
