Deltek acquires EVM product from Planview

Deltek Inc. gave its earned value management credentials a boost today when it acquired the Micro-Frame Program Manager software from Planview Inc. for $16 million.

MPM is EVM software that contractors and agencies can use to map the progress of a project to financial and operational results. The government is increasingly requiring agencies to measure projects using EVM.

About 100 companies and agencies use MPM, which brought in about $5 million in revenue for Austin, Texas-based Planview last year, Deltek said. Eight of the top 10 aerospace and defense contractors, in addition to NASA and the Defense, Energy and Transportation departments, use the software.

MPM will be integrated with the Deltek Winsight product.

The combined product should give small and midsize companies a cheaper way to create their own EVM practice centers, the Herndon, Va.-based company said.
