Aircraft Armaments Inc. has won two new contracts from the Army, totaling $248.1 million, to provide additional Shadow unmanned aircraft systems and related support.

AAI won a $242 million contract to deliver 17 Shadows and associated support equipment, the Defense Department said Sept. 5. The company also won a $6.1 million modification to a previously awarded contract to provide engineering services for a tactical communications data link and airborne control equipment to support the Shadows.

The Shadow is a tactical UAS used by the Army and Marine Corps. The Army Aviation and Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., is in charge of the contracting activity.

AAI, of Hunt Valley, Md., designs, produces and supports aerospace and defense systems through various subsidiaries. Its products and services include UAS, training and simulation systems, automated aerospace test and maintenance equipment, armament systems, and aviation ground support equipment.

AAI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Textron Inc., of Providence, R.I.
