Appointments
Deirdre Murray joined Qwest Communications
International Inc., of Denver, as business development
manager of the companys government services
division. She will focus on opportunities at civilian
agencies. Murray has held marketing, business
development and operations positions at GTE Corp.
and U.S. West.
Lurita Doan stepped down as the countrys first woman General Services Administration administrator after Bush administration officials asked for her resignation. Doan, who held the top slot at GSA for less than two years, previously was president of the information technology company she founded, New Technology Management Inc., of Oakton, Va. David Bibb, deputy GSA administrator, has been named acting administrator.
Rick Knop was named to a new position supporting the international investment banking business at BB&T Capital Markets Inc., of Richmond, Va. Knop previously was one of three people leading the firms defense and government services unit, which now will be led by John Allen and John Hagan.
Promotions
At Robbins-Gioia LLC, of Alexandria, Va.: A reorganization
created changes at the top, including naming
Pierre Monacelli president of the defense and
intelligence division and former Gartner Inc. analyst
Herb Strauss as chief strategy and marketing officer.
Joe Dawson has been promoted to executive
vice president of government sales; Darci Allen to
director of corporate proposals; Jon Hughes to vice
president of the technical solutions group; and
David Colby to executive director of the information
technology office group.
