HUD developing contractor-run supply store

HUD is developing a five-year contract for a contractor-owned and operated store and asset management system to support its IT operations.

The Housing and Urban Development Department is looking for a contractor-run supply store and asset management operation for a wide-range of IT materials, operations and services.

The contract would mix cost-plus and fixed-price elements into what HUD is calling a “hybrid” contract. The asset management portion is expected to be fixed-price. It is being managed for HUD by the General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service, according to solicitation documents.

The five-year contract will include an initial base year and four one-year options. The contractor will supply equipment, materials, supplies, supervision, administration, labor and people needed to complete work for HUD.

The asset management list released by HUD includes a range of equipment including routers, computers and software. They are divided into infrastructure and non-infrastructure categories.

The contract is still in the market research phase and HUD is looking for information on operational processes, best practices, IT requirements, engineering changes, supply chain processes and mobile ordering solutions.
