Find opportunities — and win them.

The tribally-owned contractor is looking to bolster its digital modernization capabilities through this purchase.

Cherokee Federal has moved to build up its Salesforce capabilities by acquiring a business unit of HigherEchelon focused on that technology.

The transaction is set to close Nov. 1 and terms were not released.

HigherEchelon’s Salesforce practice is at the “Summit” level, which is the software company's highest category for its partnership program.

"We are strengthening Cherokee Federal's digital modernization capabilities and expanding our capacity to support government agencies as they transform operations, improve efficiency, and better serve the American people,” Steven Bilby, president of Cherokee Federal, said in a release Wednesday.

The HigherEchelon Salesforce practice has completed more than 120 implementations of Salesforce over the last six years that involve solutions for human capital management, applicant tracking, case management and higher education systems.

Some customers for those efforts have included the Marine Corps, Air Force Special Operations Command, Veterans Affairs Department, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

HigherEschelon’s Salesforce practice is meant to be a foundational piece for Cherokee Federal’s push to expand its digital transformation business.

Cherokee Federal is part of the Cherokee Nation Businesses, which support the Cherokee Nation tribe. The company also is ranked No. 51 on the 2025 Washington Technology Top 100.

HigherEschelon is a service-disabled/veteran-owned business. The company will continue to provide leadership training, cyber training, military gaming/simulation and engineering support to agencies after the transaction closes.
