CGI will lean on its partnerships with Salesforce and Snowflake, as well as an onshoring delivery center.

CGI’s state and local business will work to modernize Virginia's child support systems under a seven-year, $83 million contract with the state's social services department.

The company will help the state retire its decades-old mainframe system by using CGI’s Transcend for Child Support platform. Partners on the contract include Salesforce and Snowflake.

Virginia's Department of Social Services wants to reimagine how families are served, said Craig Burshem, deputy commissioner of state programs at VDSS.

CGI's goals are to simplify processes, streamline forms and bring more automation to expedite the time it takes families to receive support.

Some of the touted benefits for the Division of Child Support Enforcement will include a new interface that will use artificial intelligence, machine learning and analytics to draw attention to urgent cases.

“With CGI Transcend, our government clients can leverage data to identify underserved populations and communities, increase participation and engagement of families, and ultimately better shape their child support and child welfare policies and practices,” said Jimmy Schatte, CGI vice president of consulting services and U.S. state and local government national strategy lead.

CGI will deliver the IT services out of a facility in Lebanon, Virginia. That was the company’s first U.S. onshore delivery center that opened in 2006.
