The company will focus on the processes that support the Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D programs.

CGI Federal has secured a potential five-year $72 million contract to work with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on modernizing its health plan management system.

The goal is improving access to Medicare by modernizing enrollment and compliance processes for more than 800 private health and drug plans that participate in the Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D programs.

The contract has a one-year base and four individual option years, CGI said Tuesday.

CGI has supported CMS’ health plan management system for more than 20 years.

Under this contract, the company will optimize annual activities required by Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D as well as provide business and technical solutions to improve the user experience.

CMS’ health plan management system has at least 70 software modules and supports functions that impact approximately 65 million Medicare beneficiaries. The agency also has a dashboard that feeds information to senior CMS leaders.
