The contract, worth $20 billion over 10 years, is the first of two Networx contracts awarded by GSA to modernize federal government communications. The U.S. Postal Service also extended its contract with Verizon Business on the Managed Network Services contract through March 2010. Through the contract, Verizon has established one of the world''s largest private networks for the Postal Service.
