TASC wins Army contract for engineering and technical assistance

TASC Inc., formerly a unit of Northrop Grumman Corp., has been awarded a five-year, $44.7 million Army contract to provide systems engineering and technical assistance to the Army Special Programs Office.

A unit of Northrop Grumman Corp. from 2001 to 2009, TASC became an independent company in December 2009.

TASC Inc. has been awarded a five-year, $44.7 million Army contract for systems engineering and technical assistance.

Under the contract, TASC will provide the systems engineering and technical assistance to the Army Special Programs Office, according to a company statement today.

TASC will support ASPO’s intelligence and surveillance research and devlopment efforts, Quick Reaction Capability initiatives and interactions with all levels of ASPO stakeholders.

In addition, the company will provide technical expertise in the material acquisition process, planning, and programming system support.

ASPO is an acquisition organization that performs Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP) functions for the Army, conducts research and development and facilitates integration efforts in surveillance and reconnaissance and military intelligence.

Last month TASC won a three-year, $200 million Air Force contract to work on a space-based infrared system that is part of the U.S. missile defense system.

Founded in 1966, TASC provides advanced systems engineering, integration and decision-support services to the intelligence community, Defense Department and federal civilian agencies.
