Radiance looks to strengthen its position in directed energy, space systems and emerging defense technologies.

Radiance Technologies has grown its science and engineering solutions business with the acquisition of XL Scientific, which operates under the brand name of Verus Research.

Verus holds several contracts with the Army, Air Force and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Some of its work includes research on high-powered antennae, software for autonomous landscape mapping, and electromagnetic effects testing.

The company recorded $59.2 million in unclassified prime contract revenue in 2024, according to GovTribe.

“By integrating Verus Research’s expertise and resources, Radiance is better positioned to address its customers’ unique challenges while delivering innovative solutions that uphold the highest standards of precision and reliability,” Radiance said in a release Monday.

Terms of the transaction announced Monday were not disclosed.

Radiance is looking to offer its customers more solutions around directed energy, space, test and training, prototyping, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Verus also brings nuclear science capabilities.

“By joining forces with Verus Research, we add richer capability in a range of cutting-edge defense technologies while fostering our employee-ownership culture,” said Radiance CEO Bill Bailey.
