The Army Materiel Command is in the research phase of a contract for strategic planning and medical logistics support.
A new request for information posted Tuesday describes the Army’s need for support planning functions across several areas – medical supply chain and logistics, equipment readiness and distribution, and liaison officers embedded at major Army commands.
The potential contract would also support strategic planning that feeds into Army operations and war gaming exercises.
The RFI is labeled as “strategic planning and medical” support and is focused on ensuring logistics can sustain forces in a conflict.
The Army is planning for a contract with a 9-month base period, plus four individual option years and a six-month extension.
While the contract structure is still to be determined, the Army says it will likely need annual labor hours in the 57,000-to-66,000 range. The Army also wants to build in surge capacity of another 9,600 hours.
The RFI recognizes that the Army needs more contractor support to anticipate stresses on the supply chain and balance that against mission requirements.
Responses to the RFI are due June 15.
