Advantage Capital is investing in the 12-year-old contractor through Empower The Change, a fund started in 2022 to exclusively provide capital to minority-owned businesses.
Organizational Development Resource Group, a technology services company focused on national security and geospatial customers, has secured a $3 million investment from a growth capital fund geared toward entrepreneurs it views as underrepresented.
Advantage Capital, a venture investment firm and small business lender, set up its “Empower the Change Fund” in 2022 to exclusively provide capital to minority-owned businesses with the goal of deploying $200 million over multiple years. Terms of the investment announced Tuesday were not disclosed.
ODRG’s federal client base includes the Navy, Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, Defense Security Cooperation Agency and Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
Sophia Harris, ODRG’s chief executive, founded the company in 2013 to develop geospatial and secure-by-design cloud solutions for security cooperation and IT modernization efforts at agencies. ODRG touts human-centered design and artificial intelligence-powered data services as its core specialties.
“This investment marks a transformative moment for our company,” Harris said in a release. “It enables us to deepen our commitment to technical excellence, scale our operations, and broaden the impact we can make through delivering AI-powered geospatial and mission-critical services.”
ODRG will use the newfound financial resources to expand research-and-development capacity and form new software partnerships.
“Sophia Harris and the ODRG team represent exactly the kind of entrepreneurial excellence the Empower the Change Fund was designed to support,” said Sandra M. Moore, the fund’s founder and managing director.
