Find opportunities — and win them.

The nonprofit firm’s vehicle for investing in startups takes it to a company that works with organizations on adopting artificial intelligence and stay within their security and regulatory guardrails.

Noblis’ venture capital arm has invested in Prediction Guard, a cloud software company that develops artificial intelligence systems for high-security environments.

Prediction Guard opened for business in 2023 to develop a generative AI-centric platform for helping large organizations deploy large language models and other building blocks of AI behind their own network firewalls.

The idea behind that approach is to help customers adopt AI at scale but stay in keeping with data security, intellectual property protection, regulatory compliance and other related concerns. Terms of this Noblis Ventures investment announced Tuesday were not disclosed.

Noblis Ventures is the nonprofit science and research firm’s vehicle for investing in early-stage, deep-tech startups whose creations have potential application across the health, space, national security and critical infrastructure domains.

In Prediction Guard, Noblis Ventures has identified a company working on the problem many government agencies face of having to work under security and regulatory constraints that can slow down tech adoption.

“This alignment offers significant opportunities for strategic collaboration on secure deployment of AI systems, including through Noblis’ Artificial Intelligence Assurance Implementation (AI2) solution for AI safety, and further strengthens our ability to help customers navigate AI adoption while safeguarding sensitive data,” Noblis’ chief executive Mile Corrigan said in a release.

Noblis developed that AI2 offering to help agencies test AI models for how well they work, the impacts to people and society, and whether or not the AI follows ethical rules.

“Their expertise in federal missions and commitment to ensuring trustworthy AI deployments will be invaluable as we enable more organizations to integrate transformative technologies without compromising security,” Prediction Guard CEO Daniel Whitenack said of Noblis.
