Find opportunities — and win them.

Core4ce nearly doubles its Air Force advanced photonics research contract after the 2024 transaction.

Core4ce has received a $98.7 million contract modification from the Air Force Research Laboratory that expands an existing program focused on research activities involving advanced photonic materials.

The contract is one of the reasons Core4ce acquired Azimuth Corp. last year. Azimuth won the contract in 2022.

The modification brings the total value of the Materials Research and Survivability Studies II program to $196 million and a new end date of March 2032.

The company is working on optical and photonic materials that can be used for sensors, engineered structures, non-linear electromagnetic technologies and advanced laser components, the company said in its announcement on Thursday.

“Every material we develop begins with the end mission in mind, which includes protecting against extreme environments, enabling next-generation sensors, or enhancing survivability,” said Valerie Rossi, senior vice president of advanced mission solutions at Core4ce.

Azimuth’s expertise in this area was an important driver in the acquisition by Core4ce. “We are combining our strengths in data and AI with Azimuth’s materials science capabilities to deliver reliable innovation,” said Mike Morehouse, Core4ce CEO.
