The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce and Professional Services Council have announced the 2024 class of companies and executives to receive the Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards.
Four GovCon companies and three executives were recognized for their success in the market, plus contributions to employees and the wider community.
This was the 23rd annual edition of the awards, which also included the induction of Joseph Kampf into the LaFleur-Chason Hall of Fame for GovCon.
Kampf was chief executive of Anteon International Corp. from 1996 to 2006, a period that saw the government technology company grow from $100 million in annual revenue to $1.5 billion.
Anteon also undertook an initial public offering in 2002 and was acquired four years later by General Dynamics for $2.2 billion. Following the sale, Kampf and several of his Anteon colleagues founded the private investment firm CoVant.
One of CoVant’s highest-profile backings in the market included LGS Innovations, which it acquired in 2014 alongside fellow co-owner Madison Dearborn Partners. CoVant and MDP sold LGS five years later to CACI International for $750 million.
Kampf’s induction into the GovCon Hall of Fame for 2025 follows last year’s selection of Mac Curtis, the former Perspecta CEO who before that held the same title at Vencore and Vangent.
The 2025 Public Sector Partner award went to Reps. Mike Rogers (R-Alabama) and Adam Smith (D-Washington), respectively the chairman and ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee.
