The contract covers support of 739 total planes across the Air Force, Army and Navy.
V2X has won a potential nine-year, $4.3 billion contract to provide supply and other logistics services for the Air Force’s fleet of T-6 jets that are used in pilot training programs.
The Air Force received three offers in total for the Contractor Operated and Maintained Base Supply Services contract, according to the Pentagon’s Thursday awards digest.
Air Force officials set up the COMBS contract to provide support for safe, flyable aircraft to meet users’ daily flight schedules and depot requirements. The service branch also is seeking to blend best practices from the Defense Department and commercial sector in procurement, production and delivery of products and services.
Solicitation documents released in the summer of 2023 describe COMBS as available for use by the Army and Navy. They and the Air Force combined operate 739 T-6 jets at 11 operating locations and one depot location inside the U.S.
COMBS’ scope of work includes program management, off-station support, overhaul, repair and data provision. Work will take place at various military bases across the U.S. through July 2034.
V2X’s capture of COMBS represents a takeaway win from incumbent JPATS Logistics Services, a joint venture of IAP Worldwide Services and Kellstrom Defense Aerospace that has held the current contract since 2018.
JPATS has received $1.6 billion in total obligations ahead of the current contract’s June 30 expiration date, according to GovTribe data.
Back in November, V2X's chief executive Jeremy Wensinger appeared on our WT 360 podcast to explain the company's approach to optimization after completing its big post-merger integration.
