Find opportunities — and win them.

The eventual contract winner will work under an enterprise software license subscription model for up to four-and-a-half years.

The Veterans Affairs Department is planning to acquire a new cloud-based enterprise resource planning system that can support its IT functions and help enable health care delivery.

VA currently uses a software-as-a-service platform to manage department-wide operations such as service desk, incident and event triaging, request fulfillments, change enablement, and problem resolution.

VA’s needs and the larger policy environment it operates in have now evolved to the point where it needs a new ERP solution for covering a wider range of responsibilities, the department said in a sources sought notice posted Thursday to Sam.gov.

Any new ERP solution must fulfill the key health care delivery support aspect of the current SaaS platform, which involves keeping the VistA and Oracle Cerner electronic health records systems up-and-running.

The department envisions the new solution as being able to span across service domains such as IT service management, IT asset management, IT business management and human resources.

Automation, security compliance and flexibility in adapting to policy and legislative changes are also key points of emphasis for VA.

VA is planning for the contract to have a potential duration of four-and-a-half years, starting with an initial six-month base period followed by up to four option years. The eventual winner will perform the work under an enterprise software license subscription model.

Responses to the request for information are due to VA no later than 4 p.m. Eastern time on Jan. 27.
