Defense Department communities involved in tech development and transition efforts all have access to the supercomputing systems, which are currently supported by BAE Systems Inc.
Companies and other interested parties are now able to register for an industry day that will focus on the next iteration of a high-performance computing support services contract.
The Army Corps of Engineers is setting up the High Performance Modernization Computing Program–Unrestricted 3 contract, also called HITS-UIII, to continue efforts that aid various Defense Department communities involved in technology development and transition efforts.
DOD’s communities for science and technology, research-and-development, and test-and-evaluation missions all have access to the department’s supercomputer systems in the unclassified Defense Research and Engineering Network and classified Secure Defense Research and Engineering Network.
The industry day program will take place on June 24 and June 25 with a 9 a.m. Eastern start time on both days, the Army Corps of Engineers said in its Friday notice to open registration. Signups are due by 5 p.m. Eastern time on June 10.
BAE Systems’ U.S. subsidiary is the incumbent contractor for HITS-UII and captured the work in June 2022 as a delivery order through the Alliant 2 IT solutions vehicle.
GovTribe data indicates the Army has obligated $347 million against that order, or 44% of the $786 million ceiling, ahead of its scheduled Feb. 17, 2028 sunset date.
The company’s primary work areas cover essential operations for DOD’s Supercomputing Resource Centers, of which there are five located throughout the country in support of the military service branches. System integration and operation, system and network administration, cybersecurity, help desk, and facility support are included in the scope of services.
For the new HITS-UIII program, Army and DOD officials want to incorporate an enterprise approach that would result in a more holistic customer and user experience for each centers. The objective is to achieve cross-center efficiencies and innovations, while also respecting a certain level of autonomy for each service branch’s own needs.
Questions on the new contract are to be submitted into the Army’s ProjNet portal by June 15 with the bidder inquiry key of JRCGOU-P25DE3.f
