General Dynamics IT keeps Army field support work with $510M award

General Dynamics IT has retained customer it has worked with for 20 years by securing a $510 million field support task order from the Army Communications-Electronics Command.

The company will provide global logistics, sustainment and maintenance services for the Army and coalition forces under the Worldwide Field Support program. GDIT first began supporting the customer in 2006, the company said Wednesday.

The five-year task order was awarded in July and has a single base year, followed by four individual option years.

GDIT will support the Army’s current and future command, control, communications, IT assets, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and medical (C5ISR-M) systems. This includes radios, command and control, and environmental control systems.

The company will provide hardware and software support, field maintenance, and support personnel in forward locations. GDIT said it will perform work at190 locations worldwide, including Army bases and installations.

Army Communications-Electronics Command manages the Army’s C5ISR-M systems that soldiers use to monitor the battlefield and execute operations in real time.

“From low-cost drones to sophisticated cyber threats, the battlefield is evolving faster than ever and increasing risks to our soldiers,” Brian Sheridan, GDIT senior vice president for defense, said in a release.

GDIT personnel will work alongside soldiers to bring the “latest technology and solutions to help the Army stay one step ahead of our adversaries and prepare now for the battlespace of the future,” Sheridan said.

The award builds on GDIT’s portfolio of services across the Army, including delivering enterprise network and cybersecurity services for the Army National Guard, enterprise IT services for U.S. Army Europe, global integrated base defense sustainment support, flight school training, and mission training complex support.
