Navy adds $876M to L3Harris Growler jammer award as production nears

The U.S. Navy has expanded the scope of L3Harris Technologies’ contract to build jammer pods for EA-18G Growler aircraft.
The expansion more than doubles the value of the contract by adding an additional $876.4 million to the original ceiling of $587.4 million.
In 2024, the Navy chose L3Harris to deliver eight prototype tactical jamming pods as part of a modernization and equipment replacement effort.
With this contract modification announced Wednesday, L3Harris will continue development work on the Next Generation Jammer Low Band system. The company will also build out non-recurring tooling and equipment as the system moves toward production, according to the Defense Department's contract roundup.
The modification also covers system demonstration test article pods, additional cybersecurity and system security development, and product, logistics, test and evaluation and software support for the U.S. Navy and Australia's air force.
L3Harris says its design packs more processing and jamming power than the legacy system and uses an open architecture that makes upgrades easier.
The work is expected to be completed in fiscal year 2031.
