The Defense Health Agency and Leidos iron out the terms of how they will work together on shifting DHA away from the current lead integrator model.
The Defense Health Agency has finalized a bridge contract with Leidos as part of the ongoing transition of the military’s electronic health record toward direct arrangements with providers of the EHR’s underlying technologies.
Back in June, DHA first detailed its plans to shift away from the current lead systems integrator model for the MHS Genesis system and how the agency would work with Leidos to accomplish that. DHA eyed a series of extensions to Leidos part of that process, which the agency envisioned as completing in the summer of 2027.
The new bridge contract with Leidos has a $317.9 million ceiling and covers a period of performance through the end of January 2028, the Pentagon said in its Tuesday awards digest. System reintegration, software licensing and hosting services are within the scope of the new contract.
DHA said this new contract will gradually reduce in scope until the end date and is intended to help facilitate transitions to other service providers, while also aiding in the establishment of direct relationships with MHS Genesis’ solution providers.
Oracle Health provides the main health record for MHS Genesis. DHA is also looking to enter into direct contracts with Philips North America, American Well Corp. Henry Schein and Solventum Health Information Systems.
