The Textron Systems business makes unmanned vehicles, electronics and other products for use across domains.

Textron's defense technology segment has appointed a new president and chief executive in Tom Hammoor, a nearly four-decade industry veteran and formerly CEO of the conglomerate's defense aviation business.

Hammoor succeeds Lisa Atherton, who previously led the Textron Systems business for six years. Textron said Thursday that Atherton is moving over to chief operating officer of the parent company's Bell Helicopter subsidiary.

Textron Systems houses an unmanned vehicle product line and other offerings for missions involving air, land, sea, propulsion, weapon systems, electronics, testing, training and simulation.

“Lisa’s leadership and experience with military programs at Bell and Textron Systems will be invaluable as we ramp up and execute on the U.S. Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft program,” Textron CEO Scott Donnelly said in a release. "We are also fortunate to have a leader like Tom, who brings tremendous expertise, leadership and business acumen to his new role at Textron Systems.”

Atherton first joined Textron in 2007 as an executive in the defense systems business, then moved over to Bell in 2013 for a four-year stint that included the role of executive vice president for the military business.

Hammoor most recently led Textron's defense aviation business for six years and prior to that spent nearly three decades at General Electric.
