Rancher Government Solutions, the open source software company's federal subsidiary, has hired a new chief executive in 18-year tech market veteran and former SRI Ventures partner Ryan Lewis.
Lewis joins RGS to lead the next phase of its strategy that focuses on IT infrastructure modernization work with an emphasis on interoperable and Kubernetes technologies, RGS said Monday.
At SRI Ventures, Lewis oversaw investments and development efforts related to early-stage enterprise IT and artificial intelligence companies that work on so-called “dual-use” tech for government and commercial markets.
His career in investing also includes a stint as a senior vice president at the intelligence community’s venture arm In-Q-Tel, where he founded and led an applied research laboratory organization focused on AI.
Lewis is a co-founder of SpaceNet and worked as a general manager there from its 2016 inception until 2021, when Maxar Technologies took full ownership of the business.
His career also includes two years at Amazon Web Services, where he was senior practice manager for AI and machine learning security.
