The 18-year-old quantum tech company now counts Science Applications International Corp.'s ventures arm as an investor and go-to-market partner.
Infleqtion, a quantum technology company that uses lasers to maintain those systems, has fetched roughly $100 million in Series C capital from investors to aid in the further development and scaling of its product offerings.
Founded as coldQuanta, Infleqtion spun out from the University of Colorado in 2007 and largely bases its technology on atoms without an electrical charge. Those ultra-cold neutral atoms power atomic clocks, sensors and radio frequency communication systems.
The company is pushing to have its first operational quantum computer by 2028 but is applying its technology for other use cases as part of that journey, including clocks deployed on missions for NASA and the Defense Department.
“We are harnessing the power of quantum to solve the world’s most urgent and complex challenges,” Infleqtion’s chief executive Matt Kinsella said in a release. “This funding fuels our next phase of growth, allowing us to scale transformative technologies with strategic partners who share our vision and serve as go-to-market allies, helping to secure nations and power the next generation of intelligent systems.”
Science Applications International Corp. is a new investor in and partner of Infleqtion as the companies have also entered into a go-to-market teaming arrangement focused on defense applications.
“Infleqtion’s visionary advancements in atomic clocks, inertial navigation, and quantum communication directly align with our mission to integrate emerging technologies into active and critical operations to enhance resilience, precision, and ultimately keeping warfighters safe in the most demanding environments,” said Lauren Knausenberger, chief innovation officer at SAIC and a managing director in its ventures arm.
Glynn Capital, Morgan Stanley’s Counterpoint Global fund and S32 were among the other participants in Infleqtion’s Series C round. In-Q-Tel, the intelligence community’s venture investment arm, was involved in Infleqtion’s 2023 Series B round that collected $110 million in capital.
The investor network behind Infleqtion also includes Axial, Breakthrough Victoria, Caruso Ventures, Cyfr Capital, Golden Vision Capital, Global Frontier, LCP, Maverick, National Security Strategic Investment Fund, Olive Ventures, Overmatch, SentinelOne’s ventures arm and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.
J.P. Morgan acted as a sole placement agent to Infleqtion.
