Saalex has gradually moved eastward through acquisitions like this one and a move of its corporate headquarters from Southern California.
Saalex has acquired a software development and systems engineering provider in a move aimed at establishing a larger footing with the Navy.
Greenfield Engineering opened for business in 2002 and is a 61-employee business whose primary client is the Naval Air Systems Command. Greenfield is headquartered in Lexington Park, Maryland, to place it in close proximity to NAVAIR’s main hub at the Patuxent Naval Air Station.
By purchasing Greenfield, Saalex is adding a portfolio of avionics software programs with NAVAIR along with associated configuration management and program management offerings. Terms of the transaction announced Monday were not disclosed.
“The acquisition of Greenfield Engineering demonstrates the Saalex Corporation commitment to supporting the warfighter and growing our software development capabilities in highly sensitive and secure DOD environments,” Saalex chief executive Travis Mack said in a release Monday.
Greenfield also represents another East Coast-focused foray by Saalex, which moved its corporate headquarters to Washington, D.C., in late 2024 after many years in Southern California.
Saalex’s acquisition of Spalding Consulting in January 2024 also added a more significant presence in the Patuxent area.
