Find opportunities — and win them.

Data analysis, electromagnetic systems, automation and simulation represent the tech drivers of these purchases.

Culmen International

For this buyer, the summer was an active season with three purchases closed as the global government services company seeks to further incorporate technology into its work.

One example of that is Culmen’s acquisition of Madison Springfield, which touts its proprietary MOSAICS platform as being able to work with data from at least 155 countries to aid in how agencies analyze risks.

Culmen also continued to further build out its geographic presence with the buy of Premise Data Corp.’s public sector business in a carve-out transaction. This move focused on adding more functions in remote data research, monitoring and evaluations to aid in decision-making work for hard-to-reach areas of the world.

In acquiring Technology Management Company, Culmen brought in a 450-employee team focused on international program management support and health security services.

General Atomics

MLD Technologies is now part of the energy and defense technology company’s electromagnetic systems group and brings to it a portfolio of optical coatings and components.

General Atomics-Electromagnetic Systems has acquired optical coatings from MLD for six years and was keenly interested in the latter’s ion-beam-sputtered technique, which informs the design of laser weapon systems.

MLD was founded in 1997 and has been headquartered in Mountain View, California with the primary engineering and manufacturing work based in Eugene, Oregon.

Management Science and Innovation

This digitization support company’s new majority owner is Sovereign Capital, an investment arm of Cherokee Federal set up to back founder-led businesses.

Management Science and Innovation opened for business in 2002 to concentrate on programs involving process optimization, human capital and business transformation.

MSI has since added robotic process automation and intelligent automation as key technology focus areas. This is Sovereign Capital’s second investment since its launch in September 2024.

Pasteur Labs

This developer of simulation intelligence technologies and applications has moved to further bring in an artificial intelligence bent to its offerings for clients.

By purchasing FOSAI, Pasteur Labs is also adding systems architecture to its line of work and flagship platform that is designed to aid in research-and-development efforts.

FOSAI touts the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and Space Force as government users of its products, which are designed to facilitate digital engineering.

Safran Defense & Space

This subsidiary of the France-headquartered aerospace company is adding a lineup of new imaging and laser sensing solutions via its acquisition of Attollo Engineering.

Attollo employs close to 60 people and touts its specialty area as infrared imaging systems that operate in the shortwave and midwave bands of the spectrum.

Safran Defense & Space was particularly interested in Attollo’s small pixel pitch sensors and status as a merchant supplier across defense and commercial markets.

Valkyrie Enterprises

This provider of engineering services and technology solutions has bought a company focused on missile defense, space sensor development and aviation applications.

Optical Sciences Corp. brings to Valkyrie a suite of electro-optical and infrared products, along with testing and simulation services focused on hardware-in-the-loop.

Valkyrie is backed by DC Capital Partners and seeking to position for large opportunities in priorities like the Golden Dome missile defense blueprint.
