Find opportunities — and win them.

Parsons has increasingly used acquisitions as a way to evolve its critical infrastructure business in the same way it has done for the federal business.

Parsons Corp. has acquired an engineering services provider that concentrates its work on water and stormwater projects for cities, counties and water management districts across the state of Florida.

Tampa-headquartered Applied Sciences Consulting opened for business in 2005 to work with local agencies across Florida on their water infrastructure resilience plans. Financial terms of the transaction announced Thursday were not disclosed.

By purchasing Applied Sciences, Parsons is looking to increase the company’s expertise in water management solutions and further grow its presence in a state that has committed billions to water infrastructure.

“Parsons is an industry leader in the water sector, having transformed some of the world’s most complex water and wastewater projects through advanced processes, facilities, and technologies,” Parsons’ CEO Carey Smith said in a release. “Especially as Florida continues to make significant investments to enhance the state’s water infrastructure, this acquisition expands our global expertise and our ability to advance community health and development in the Southeast and across the United States.”

Morrissey Goodale advised Applied Sciences in this transaction.

One of the government market’s serial acquirers, Parsons has also extended that aspect of its strategy to the company’s critical infrastructure segment as a way to identify synergies and commonalities with the federal solutions business.
