Northrop Grumman has hired a new chief financial officer in John Greene, who joins the blue chip defense company after six years as Discover’s CFO prior to its acquisition by Capital One in May.
Greene’s appointment at Northrop is effective Jan. 7 and he succeeds Ken Crews, who became CFO in October 2024 after two decades at the company. Crews will work in an advisory capacity to support the transition until his departure on Feb. 20, Northrop said Thursday.
Prior to Discover, Greene worked as CFO in separate stints at the global pharmaceutical company Bioverative and the insurance broker Willis Group Holdings. His 35-year career in finance also includes business unit-level CFO roles at HBSC holdings.
Below is a June 2022 interview of Greene, which was produced by the Institute of Management Accountants.
