Find opportunities — and win them.

Elder Research has been working in the defense and intelligence communities since 2005.

ManTech has acquired a provider of artificial intelligence and data science solutions in a move to further build out the portfolio of automation offerings and add more integration expertise.

Dr. John Elder founded Elder Research in 1995 to help U.S. government agencies and large companies implement predictive analytics functions into their operations.

Elder Research started working with defense and intelligence agencies in 2005, then stood up its homeland business unit earlier this year to focus on national security and critical infrastructure initiatives.

The Elder Research team will join ManTech’s data and AI practice led by Brandy Durham, chief data and AI officer. Financial terms of the transaction announced Wednesday were not disclosed.

ManTech is also touting Elder Research’s experience in programs for fending off insider threats, using analytics for trade security, automating real-time forecasting and predictive maintenance for critical infrastructure systems. Elder Research says it has also provided its AI offerings for efforts to detect fraud, waste and abuse.

Charlottesville, Virginia-headquartered Elder Research has recorded approximately $19 million in unclassified prime contract revenue over the trailing 12 months. Customs and Border Protection represents the largest share of that spend at 74% with the Securities and Exchange Commission next at 11.2%, according to USASpending.gov data.

ManTech has made one other acquisition since the company itself was purchased by The Carlyle Group in 2022. One year after that, ManTech bought Definitive Logic to bring in more digital transformation work.
