22nd Century has focused its acquisitions in recent years on digital transformation and public safety.
22nd Century Technologies has acquired the federal contracting division of U.K.-headquartered BT Group in a move to bring more telecommunications and networking experience into the larger managed service offering.
The business being purchased will now operate as a subsidiary named 22nd Century Networks, which covers all 50 U.S. states. Terms of the transaction announced Tuesday were not disclosed.
BT Federal has recorded approximately $4.8 million in unclassified prime contract revenue over the trailing 12 months with defense work representing 89% of that activity, according to USASpending.gov data.
“With 22nd Century Networks, we are advancing digital modernization while also securing the network layer that underpins our nation’s most critical operations across the Department of (Defense), Department of Justice, and Department of State,” 22nd Century’s chief executive Anil Sharma said in a release.
22nd Century’s approach to acquisitions in recent years has centered around adding more digital transformation work for agencies and bolstering the company’s presence in public safety.
In the summer of 2024, 22nd Century acquired TreasurySoft to further build out its enterprise resource planning practice that includes work on Oracle implementations. 22nd Century’s purchase of Queues Enforth Development in the fall of 2023 included a suite of computer-aided dispatch and records management systems.
The Federal Communications Commission has cleared the transaction.
