John Wood's transition to executive chairman of the board of directors concludes his 32-year run as chief executive, a tenure marked by the cyber company's initial public offering in 2020.

Telos Corp.’s board of directors has promoted a new chief executive in Mark Griffin, formerly an executive vice president who has been with the company for 42 years.

Telos said Monday that former CEO John Wood, who became Telos' leader in 1994, has been appointed executive chairman of the board of directors to focus on the company’s product roadmap and long-term sales strategy.

Griffin has led Telos’ security solutions business for the past five years, a role that tasked him with leading the development and management of the company’s intellectual property portfolio. He holds three decades of executive leadership experience in areas such as business strategy, financial performance and operations.

Telos recorded $164.8 million in revenue for 2025 to show a 50% year-over-year increase on that front, while reducing its full-year net loss to $36.5 million from the $52.5 million figure reported for 2024.

Federal-facing work represented 91% of the 2025 revenue mix and 58% of overall sales came from the Defense Department, according to Telos’ annual report. The remaining 9% is generated in state and local government and commercial markets.

Telos employs close to 500 people and is known for being one of three contractors involved in PreCheck, the Transportation Security Administration’s program to prescreen travelers and more quickly move them through airports.

Wood first joined Telos in 1990 and his three-decade run as its CEO is highlighted by the late 2020 initial public offering, which listed the company on the NASDAQ market.

Wood is a three-time guest of Washington Technology’s podcast, including one in 2021 to discuss the IPO itself and again in 2024 to update us on the company’s roadmap. The overall cyber landscape featured in both discussions.

He was also one of our initial guests when the podcast first launched in 2018 under the Project 38 name.
