Find opportunities — and win them.

The Office of Naval Intelligence is particularly interested in taking a phased delivery approach that a contractor would help oversee.

The Navy’s intelligence agency is asking for industry input on how it can incorporate more artificial intelligence applications and systems to aid analysts in carrying out their workflows.

The Office of Naval Intelligence is particularly interested in taking a phased delivery approach that would build off work performed by Monkton under a contract awarded in 2020 to enable secure mobile operations at the tactical edge.

In a sources sought notice issued Monday, ONI says it is looking for a contractor to help the agency move further on model development and ensure performance aligns with requirements.

ONI’s initial idea for the phased delivery method structures the program in progressive phases and with strict production requirements. Phase one would involve integration and testing support of AI systems, while phase two would focus on training support for government personnel in operating and maintaining the systems.

Phase three emphasizes technical data support for the AI systems, then the fourth and final phase prioritizes repair and maintenance as needed.

In essence, ONI wants the contractor to guide the agency through all of those stages and evaluate the model’s performance based on benchmarks from the government.

Large language models will also be tools used to evaluate how the model performs and integrates into operational environments.

Responses to the request for information are due by March 31.
