Find opportunities — and win them.

Air Force leaders will reassess the strategy for acquiring research-and-development support from industry.

Six weeks after bids were due, the Air Force Research Laboratory has pulled the plug on a potential $10 billion contract vehicle that covered a wide range of science and technology initiatives.

“This action is being taken to allow the government to re-assess its requirements and acquisition strategy to ensure the resulting procurement will best meet the needs of the AFRL enterprise and the warfighter,” AFRL said in its Monday announcement of the contract's cancellation.

The AFRL Multiple Award Contract, also known as AMAC, focused on acquiring research-and-development support on behalf of the entire Air Force. Unclassified efforts in space, air, cyberspace, electronic warfare and cross-cutting tech work was in the scope.

AMAC’s final solicitation went live on Jan. 27 with a proposal due date of Feb. 27.

As the notice indicates, the AFRL will go back to the drawing board on whether to issue a new solicitation for these requirements or not.
