Applied Research Associates has won a one-year, $111.5 million contract to work with the Naval Research Laboratory on research-and-development efforts in high-performance computing.
NRL received three bids for the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, the Pentagon said in its Friday awards digest.
Solicitation documents from March 2024 describe how NRL sought to hire an industry partner to help its Center for High Performance Computing carry out research in the management, use and application of high-performance networks. This includes work to develop next-generation network protocols.
ARA will be responsible for providing engineering, technical and transition support services to aid in how NRL carries out its requirements and performance analysis missions. The company will also collaborate with NRL to develop new cryptographic capabilities.
NRL is particularly interested in utilizing cryptographic devices of the commercial and Type 1 categories, the latter of which refers to devices or systems certified by the National Security Agency for use in securing classified government information.
