In his former role, the electric sector veteran led one of the country's main multi-state power suppliers.

HII's board of directors has elected a new member in Leo Denault, current executive chairman and former CEO of the multi-state electric power provider Entergy.

Denault's one-year term on the HII board takes effect immediately, the company said Friday. He previously led Entergy as chairman of the board of directors and CEO for nine years until November, when he transitioned to executive chairman.

The Energy Department represents a key customer of HII via the company's work on programs involving the management and operation of DOE sites. HII also supports environmental cleanup efforts at locations that formerly were home to nuclear weapon and power production programs.

Entergy generates and distributes electric power to nearly 3 million people in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
