The company has another senior leadership change in the works amid the transition to a new CEO.

RTX has promoted the next president of its Raytheon defense hardware segment from within the company's own ranks in Phil Jasper, a two-decade company veteran.

Jasper most recently oversaw the integration of connected battlespace offerings in his now-former role as president of the mission systems unit within RTX's Collins Aerospace segment. The promotion takes effect Monday and Jasper succeeds Wes Kremer, who will officially retire from RTX at the end of March.

The company said Thursday that Jasper will lead a business comprising franchise programs in missile defense, air-to-air missiles, fire control radars, and electro-optical/infra-red systems. Jasper also is moving into this new role in a period of higher demand for defense equipment due to the war in Ukraine.

For RTX, this is the latest in a series of changes to its senior leadership team highlighted by the mid-December announcement that Chief Operating Officer Chris Calio will move up to CEO later in the spring. RTX also now has a new chief technology officer in Juan de Bedout, who has been with the company since 2018.

While at Collins Aerospace, Jasper led initiatives for transitioning commercial aerospace technologies for use by RTX's defense customers in their communications and networking missions. The Collins Aerospace mission systems unit also designs offerings for aircraft applications such as airdrop, refueling, intercept and guidance control.
