Tyto Athene is backed by the private equity firm Arlington Capital Partners, with whom Dennis Kelly most recently worked with to bring two of its portfolio companies together.

Tyto Athene said Tuesday it has hired a new chief executive in Dennis Kelly, a three-decade federal market veteran who joins to lead the systems integrator's strategic growth and service delivery efforts.

Private equity firm Arlington Capital Partners has owned Tyto Athene for just shy of six years, dating back to when the business was carved out of then-parent Black Box.

Tyto Athene has since gone on to close a trio of acquisitions, including the former AT&T defense IT professional services business in 2021.

Kelly most recently led the defense-focused Eqlipse Technologies through its establishment in the spring of 2023 and pending combination with BlueHalo, both of which are backed by Arlington.

Kelly succeeds Chris Meilhammer, who led Tyto Athene from its inception as a standalone company in 2018 and before that when it was the government solutions business of Black Box.
