Cedric Sims joins the 23-year-old company to lead the next phase of its strategy in areas such as cyber, automation and tech architecture.

Emagine IT has hired a new chief executive in Cedric Sims, a 25-year public sector market veteran and former member of Mitre Corp.’s senior leadership team.

Sims joins the government technology services provider to lead the next phase of its strategy and succeed Aamir Saleem, who co-founded Emagine IT in 2002 alongside company president Song Pak.

Bethesda, Maryland-headquartered EIT said Tuesday that Pak will continue to focus on growth in private sector industries and Saleem’s new responsibilities will include innovation strategy.

EIT describes its core focus areas as enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence-driven automation and digital transformation.

At Mitre, Sims most recently worked as senior vice president for enterprise and integration. He also led the nonprofit’s corporate strategy office, as well as its Centers for Strategic Competition and Data-Driven Policy.

Sims’ career in industry also includes stints as a senior vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton and president of Evermay Consulting Group.

Before entering the private sector, he served in leadership positions at the Homeland Security Department and Secret Service.
