The company emerged out of stealth mode only months ago and is pushing the development of its operating system for military logistics operators.
Rune Technologies, a startup focused on developing software for military logistics missions, has captured $24 million in Series A capital from investors to fund the further development of its product and hiring efforts.
The company opened for business in 2024 and its flagship product is TyrOS, an operating system designed to help operators gather intelligence at the tactical level without needing constant connectivity to external servers.
Arlington, Virginia-headquartered Rune touts the Army and Marine Corps as users of TyrOS. With this new investment announced Wednesday, Rune plans to accelerate those efforts and push to expand into other military service branches.
Human Capital led the Series A round that also included the participation of Pax VC and Washington Harbour Partners. Existing investors that are staying involved in Rune include Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, XYZ Venture Capital and Forward Deployed VC.
"Our mission is to bring military logistics sophistication in line with the prowess of our fighting capabilities," David Tuttle, Rune’s co-founder and chief executive said in a release. "We've seen significant demand from across the services for a product that can replace the whiteboards and spreadsheets that are currently used to track logistics operationally. This investment will allow us to accelerate our deployment of TyrOS to sustainers across the joint force."
Tuttle and Chief Technology Officer Peter Goldsborough worked at defense tech unicorn Anduril before they started Rune. Human Capital has backed Anduril in prior investment rounds.
Rune also is working with Palantir on developing automated logistics offerings and participates in the latter’s startup fellowship.
