Rampart Communications, a maker of radios and other wireless communications products for national security usage, has hired a new chief executive in 25-year technology veteran Omar Javaid.

Javaid officially started on Tuesday and will lead the next phase of Rampart’s strategy to further develop and advance its tech offerings, the company said Tuesday.

Founded in 2016, Rampart holds 55 registered patents and designs its waveform technologies to secure content and metadata in networks. The idea is to eliminate wireless links as the attack surface, where unintended recipients cannot derive anything about the content of wireless transmissions.

Rampart has recorded approximately $11.7 million in unclassified prime revenue over the trailing 12 months with 85% of that spend from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The remaining 15% is from the Army, according to USASpending.gov data.

Javaid joins Rampart after a stint as CEO of Spectra7, a maker of analog semiconductors for data centers with artificial intelligence incorporated. His career also includes executive roles at Vonage, Qualcomm, Motorola, Google, Hewlett-Packard and Avaya.
